Canoeing in Tofino

From a certain wharf in Clayoquot Sound it is actually possible to step from what appears to be just a standard ho hum  dock into... a TIME MACHINE! Look Ma! --- both hands!!... I’m actually paddling the historic waters of Clayoquot Sound in an authentic Native ocean going canoe! Really---’doesn’t just look like one,  it’s the real thing, formed by hand, streamed, assembled, carved, by men whose Fathers passed down the technique, patiently  taught the painstaking skills,
Instilled and bequeathed the passion and the pride of workmanship down through the generations.

You too can Explore Clayoquot Sound in an authentic Native Ocean Going Canoe with First Nations guides! Guests are introduced to  the Nuu-chah-nulth Culture and gain some insight into the environment in which it flourished.
 
two hour Inlet paddle  learn about historical sites, seabird and inter tidal wildlife.

now you’re  getting it on, paddling to the rhythm of the Tribal chant your guide is teaching

 four hour ‘grocery excursions’  tidal currants carry the canoes to the shores of Hilth-hoo-iis, where native guides will lead
 you on a ‘ wild grocery walk’ among the giant trees in the ancient rainforest

six hours Canoeing and Salmon BBQ paddle over fishing grounds and clam beds, roam through ancient forests and hear stories of
times gone by. Enjoy a mouth watering salmon feast prepared for you in the traditional way,
over coals on the beach. Return to Tofino with the sunset, paddling to the rhythm of the chants.
