It's dance, it's drama, it's flight, it's flight, it's sea spray on your lips, it's heady stuff that enables spirits to soar like kites released from their boxes for the day.

Here in Clayoquot Sound we enjoy the great fortune og being in the Pacific flight path of the great migrations. Our fjords offer quiet protective nutrient rich feeding grounds, so rich, many elect to stay over the winter months, rather than continuing on south.

The unique location of our seaside Bird Sanctuary guarantees a 'front row seat' on the dazzling, soaring, squabbling, whistling, quacking parade of almost constant activity year around, and affords optimum viewing and spectacular photographic opportunity. Come spring humming birds, vireos, warbles are returning to the forests, feeding on the first blossoms of the year. Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, sharp shinned Hawk and other raptors are year round and offer great viewing as they glide and call on their hunt. Check out our local bird list.

Birding tours on land or sea are available with local guides. Excursion groups have a maximum of 5 person, $100CAD for 4 hours p.p.. Field guides are available for identification, and we have great Birding Books in our lounge. For seasonal updates check our bird blog.
